In addition, throughout the year, this marina offers the possibility of renting places for boats ranging from 5.5 meters to 15 meters.
Composed of a basin of approximately 1 hectare, the Port of Saint-Aygulf is equipped with 3 jetties. It also has a harbor master's office and a shipyard, to the south of its basin.
Until the end of the 19th century, the coastal district of Saint-Aygulf was mainly inhabited by families of farmers, fishermen and coral divers. In 1910, a first sheltered port was built in Saint-Aygulf, accompanied by a small quay to protect the launches. In 1931, the district developed thanks to the opening of the road linking Saint-Aygulf to Fréjus, by the seaside. This earned it the classification of seaside resort in 1936.
In 1956, the southern quay was built, followed by the first dike to the east, built in 1961. Four years later, the second dike appeared, built to the west to protect the body of water from silting from the Villepey ponds.
Between 1982 and 1987, the east and west dikes were reinforced with a protective wall and the quay was straightened. Finally, quays and jetties were added, giving the port of Saint-Aygulf its current architecture.
Today, this small, welcoming port offers many activities, such as scuba diving or jet skiing. In addition, a few shops and restaurants dot the port for everyone's enjoyment. It is also possible to participate in fishing competitions and outings organized by a fishing association.
On the other hand, in high season, the harbor master's office welcomes boaters every day of the week and in the off season, from Monday to Friday only.
The Port of Saint-Aygulf is also located near the beaches, camping villages and the Saint Aygulf district. Located in Fréjus, the Saint-Aygulf district borders the Mediterranean and thus has a privileged setting with its many preserved coves and fine sandy beaches. It is an ideal place for family holidays, in complete relaxation and tranquility.
Saint-Aygulf, formerly called "Villepey" by the Romans, was renamed in the 18th century. The district is named after the abbot of Lérins who was called Saint-Aygulfe (with an e).
Born in 630, he was assassinated in 677 by his peers and was venerated for a long time in the Sainte-Croix chapel of the Lérins monastery. Legend has it that the boat that was carrying his remains from Roquebrune-sur-Argens ran aground on the coast of Saint-Aygulf, which is where he got his name.
Therefore, every weekend in September, a festival is celebrated in his honor.
From 1881, the Saint-Aygulf district developed through the purchase of 200 hectares of the city by the Société du Littoral to create a district. In addition, the visit of the famous writer Guy de Maupassant, who testifies to this in his book "On the Water", only increased the reputation of this magnificent place.
Saint-Aygulf beach is also known for its water activities. For the most passionate, an area of more than 400 meters is reserved for kitesurfing. Other activities such as boat or catamaran trips or towed buoys are also available all along the coastline of Saint-Aygulf.
